Chriss Gittens, 86, who performed for 35 years in the British Broadcasting Corp.’s long-running radio serial “The Archers.” Gittens played the irascible old countryman Walter Gabriel in the series heard by 7 million listeners every weeknight. “The Archers,” concerning the everyday dramas of life in fictional Ambridge in the English Midlands, began in 1951. In London on Sunday.
