Whirlpool, Benton Harbor, Mich., has named Albert E. Suter president and chief operating officer. Most recently, Suter was president and chief operating officer of Firestone, and earlier Suter was vice chairman of Emerson Electric Co. He has been a director of Whirlpool since April. Suter succeeds David R. Whitwam as president. Whitwam will continue as chairman and chief executive.
