Campbell Soup Co.’s profit rose 11% to $274.1 million for the fiscal year ended July 31, while revenue rose to $4.87 billion from $4.49 billion. The Camden, N.J.-based food maker noted that its soup volume, helped by aggressive marketing, rose 2% after a modest decline in 1987. Soup accounts for more than a third of Campbell’s revenue. The company also credited cost cuts from plant closings and consolidations.
