Reagan Meets Allies at U.N.

NEW YORK — President Reagan, wrapping up a farewell visit to the United Nations toward the end of his presidency, met with U.S. allies today but never mentioned his proposal to press for new curbs on chemical weapons.
Nor did the President bring up the status of conventional arms talks in Vienna or a proposed U.S.-Soviet treaty to halve long-range nuclear weapons, Assistant Secretary of State Rozanne L. Ridgway told reporters after the meeting. Instead, Reagan and the NATO officials discussed “allied unity and the tasks ahead on . . . security and prosperity,” Ridgway said.
