Rockers and modern rhythm-and-blues masters will team up for two benefit concerts Oct. 14 and 15 in Austin, Tex., for the Rhythm and Blues Foundation, a nonprofit group dedicated to the welfare of pioneer R&B; artists. Stevie Ray Vaughan, the Fabulous Thunderbirds and Bonnie Raitt will share the stage with R&B; pioneers Ruth Brown, the Clovers and Chuck Jackson. It will be the first time the Clovers, known for the hits “Love Potion No. 9,” “Blue Velvet” and “Lovey Dovey,” will have performed together since the early 1960s. Concert organizers said Tuesday that the concerts will help the foundation begin to aid classic R&B; performers--who might now be down on their luck.
