Candidates Clash in First TV Debate

Well, Bush showed up in the flesh for the debate, a real live human being with the flaws and the hesitations we all have when we’re in an uncomfortable situation.
But why didn’t the other guy show up? Why did they send this “Smug Mike” doll with its computerized, canned replies?
Yeah, he looked like the candidate, but everybody could see that the lip movements and the head jerking weren’t quite in sync with the words. Maybe the liberal toy makers can work the kinks out before the next debate.
