Rock guitarist Ted Nugent “bagged” a black bear with an arrow in “The Great Outdoors,” according to the text and headline of a Morning Report item Oct. 11. It is incomprehensible that Calendar so matter-of-factly carried this story. How does this qualify as entertainment news?
The killing of a magnificent animal (one of the six largest ever taken in Michigan, according to your report) is unnecessary, macho destruction.
This act helps perpetuate the deadly myth that is choking us: that the environment and all in it are ours to take and abuse.
What’s next in Morning Report--an article on a great new music video featuring Nugent dancing on his “prize”?
