Woman Officer Faces Penalties for Modesty

GREAT LAKES NAVAL BASE, Ill. — A female lieutenant who refused to produce a urine sample in front of witnesses because she did not feel comfortable doing so will face a special court-martial next month, the first such case since a drug testing program was implemented in 1982, the Navy announced Friday.
Lt. Elizabeth Unger, 29, an eight-year service woman, faces disciplinary action on a charge of willfully disobeying a commissioned officer, a spokeswoman said.
Although Unger did provide a sample, it was not accepted because there were no witnesses, the spokeswoman said.
If found guilty, Unger could lose her promotion standing or be required to forfeit two-thirds of her pay for six months. She would not be demoted or face any prison time.
