Fear of Feud Triggers Confession to a Killing

BELLPORT, N.Y. — A man who feared that relatives of a slain man would try to get revenge telephoned police to confess to the crime and ask for protection Sunday, officers said.
Curtis Pete Anderson was charged with second-degree murder in the death of Leroy Hughes, who was shot in front of a delicatessen Saturday, police said. The men got into a quarrel after Hughes brushed Anderson while opening his car door, police said.
