Local News in Brief : UCLA Professor Gets Award for Chemistry

The Robert A. Welch Award for Chemistry has been presented in Houston to Dr. Richard B. Bernstein, a UCLA professor recognized for his work in detailing molecular pictures of chemical reactions.
The Westwood professor, 65, is considered a pioneer in the field of chemical dynamics. The international award--$225,000 in cash--is given by the Welch Foundation annually in recognition of a career in or exceptional contribution to fundamental chemistry research.
