Castro Given Mexico’s Highest Civilian Medal

Cuban President Fidel Castro, receiving Mexico’s highest civilian decoration, insisted on the need for regional unity to solve Latin American difficulties.

Castro made the comment on Tuesday night at a reception where Mexican President Miguel de la Madrid awarded him the Aztec Eagle medal, the official daily newspaper Granma reported on Wednesday.

De la Madrid praised Mexican-Cuban relations saying, “We are different but we are brothers.”
