San Diego Symphony cellist Ron Robboy, who doubles as a performance artist under the name of The Yiddisher Cowboy, has taken a two-week leave from his orchestra post to ply his trades in the Big Apple. At New York’s Experimental Intermedia Foundation, he presented his one-man performance-art show, “The Metaphysics of Para-Causal Redundancy.” This weekend, he will play his cello in “The Return of the Native,” a new composition by Peter Gordon and Kit Fitzgerald at the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s prestigious and often controversial Next Wave Festival.
