Rockwell International said it would transfer 100 to 125 jobs from its Space Transportation Systems division in Downey to a facility at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The move is part of a $420-million contract the firm received Friday to consolidate space shuttle logistics at the center. Under consolidation, Rockwell will perform shuttle component repair work now done by subcontractors across the nation. The new operation will create 450 jobs in Florida, Rockwell said.
