Six more mega-deals--valued at $1 billion or more--were added to the log of completed mergers and acquisitions transactions in the third quarter, bringing the total for the first nine months to 28. With a number of mega-deals pending or proposed, a record number is expected for the full year, according to Mergers & Acquisitions magazine. The yearly record for mega-deals was set in 1986 with 31, and the 1987 total was a close runner-up at 30.
