Albertson’s said third-quarter profit increased 40.8% from a year ago to $38.1 million. Sales rose 13.6% to $1.67 billion. The Boise, Ida.-based supermarket company said its expansion program is proceeding slightly ahead of schedule. “Our goals outlined in our last annual report were 35 new stores and 30 remodels for 1988. We will open 35 to 37 new stores and complete 38 remodels,” the company said.
