Palme Suspect Ordered Held 2 More Weeks

STOCKHOLM — A district court has ordered a suspect in the killing of Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme kept in detention for another two weeks pending further investigation.
The Stockholm court last week approved the prosecutors’ demand that Christer Pettersson, 41, be held until Jan. 27 awaiting formal charges.
Pettersson was arrested on Dec. 14 and arraigned two days later, raising hopes for an end to a murder hunt that lasted almost three years.
He has pleaded innocent.
Palme, a four-term prime minister, was fatally shot on Feb. 28, 1986, while walking home from a movie with his wife in central Stockholm.
