Burma OKs Wage Rise for Government Staff

RANGOON, Burma — The government will grant pay raises to its workers, who have faced tenfold price rises over 27 years with little or no salary increases, state radio said Thursday.
The radio gave no details on the amount of raises, which it said will be effective April 1. Civil servants now earn from $23 to $235 a month.
