In his review of the TV miniseries “Lonesome Dove,” Howard Rosenberg has let his opinions outrun his knowledge once again (“Duvall’s Powerful Talent Carries ‘Lonesome Dove,’ ” Feb. 3).
In fact, the Indians did employ stupid tactics in many of their military engagements; failed to modify traditional methods in the face of superior firepower; wasted manpower in suicidal attacks--in other words were the victims of bad generalship.
Being nonwhite gives no exemption from the laws of military strategy (and common sense), despite wishful liberal thinking.
