Commercial Scene : Redevelopment Project to Begin at Whitter Mall

Los Angeles-based Schurgin Development Cos. plans to begin redevelopment this month of the 25-year-old Whittier Quad, a community shopping center in Whittier.
Schurgin will raze some structures to build the $65-million Whittier Promenade, a six-anchor, 550,000-square-foot center expected to be completed next spring. Hinshaw’s Department Store, Vons and Thrifty will remain in their present locations.
