Tonight’s Fight Available Via Satellite Dish

The Ray (Boom Boom) Mancini-Hector (Macho) Camacho fight tonight is the first major sporting event being made legally accessible via home satellite-dish television.

The fight is being distributed by Warner Brothers to cable television and SelecTV as a pay-per-view event, and also to owners of satellite dishes equipped with special decorders.

The cost in most areas is $24.95, up from $19.95 for orders prior to today.

The main event is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The undercard, featuring Olympic heavyweight silver medalist Riddick Bowe in his pro debut, begins at 6 p.m. Bowe faces John King of Sacramento in a scheduled four-round fight.

Videocipher, a division of General Instruments of San Diego, is in charge of ensuring that satellite-dish receptions are legal and is conducting a major anti-piracy campaign.

For cable subscribers to order the fight, they should call their cable companies. A number of Southland sports bars will also be carrying the fight.
