Regarding Balzar’s question “But is ‘new’ really the answer? If so, why doesn’t it work better?” It’s not that “new” doesn’t “work better” but that the old and familiar are often too difficult for us creatures of habit to relinquish. Yes, California and the Democratic Party do need a new spirit, and I think Brown’s ready and able to provide the incentive for that spirit--but all Democrats need to participate in and contribute to it.
