Canadian Firm Gets Stake in First American

WASHINGTON — Mutual Life Assurance Co. of Canada said it has acquired a 5.05% stake in First American Financial Corp.
In a Securities and Exchange Commission filing, the Canadian insurance holding company said it holds 249,500 shares of First American, including 7,000 shares bought between March 30 and April 3 for a total of $213,500.
Mutual Life of Canada said it acquired the shares for investment purposes.
