TV Fashion Thriller

A made-for-TV movie on the fashion fast track? It looks that way for “Loose Cannon,” an upcoming CBS TV movie starring Shadoe Stevens of “Hollywood Squares” fame and Sheryl Lee Ralph, who formerly appeared on “It’s a Living.” According to Ralph, she and Stevens have something of a fashion standoff in the film. “I’m a suspected killer, sort of a black widow type,” she says, “dressed in the latest Calvin Klein and Donna Karan power suits and coordinates, and Shadoe as a well-dressed cop gets to wear silk shirts, stone-washed Levis and Claude Montana.” Whether she wins or loses the style duel, Ralph seems pleased that fashion-wise, the role’s a step up from playing “a waitress for three years.”

Paris Next Door

Jill St. John, Connie Selleca and Rita Wilson Hanks (Tom Hanks’ wife) have discovered Paris in Brentwood. They all recently stopped in at Boulmiche, where buyers make bimonthly trips to Paris to bring the latest Parisian trends to Brentwood. According to a boutique spokesperson, St. John picked up French stretch jeans in several colors, Selleca bought a silver-buckled belt to wear with khaki pants and black T-shirts and Hanks picked out a shoulder-baring black body suit and silky black fanny-wrap shorts.

A Bond With Old Jewelry

From the jewelry front: Wouldn’t you know the latest James Bond flick would seek out a real Goldfinger to provide the jewelry to be worn by actress Talisa Soto, yet another Bond bad girl. The Goldfinger in question is Sheila Goldfinger of Encino-based Sheila Goldfinger Antique and Estate Jewelry. “A dress designer on the film called me and said she’d like to use antique jewelry in the film, and would I be interested in renting them my jewelry,” Goldfinger said. “I went to the studio, brought a number of pieces and we struck up a deal.” The film, “Licence to Kill,” using the British spelling of license, is scheduled to be released in July.

Sheet Chic

Call it a case of life imitating art. “Dynasty” moguls Joan Collins, Linda Evans and Gordon Thomson all visited Frette, the luxury linens shop on Rodeo Drive, on recent separate occasions, to check out the newest collection of bed sheets. (Price of a king-size cotton sheet: $900, and we don’t mean lire.) Frette spokesperson Laurie Bodor reports that all three actors are regular customers. But what really has the firms’ worker bees in Italy buzzing is a large special order for Barbra Streisand, although details are not yet forthcoming.

In Tune With the Boss

Our Culver City correspondent tells us she caught sight of Bruce Springsteen at Bartels’ Harley Davidson, where a lot of movie and music folks get their bikes tuned. “He has more gray hair than I expected,” says our roving reporter, who was not complaining, by the way. Nothing else about Springsteen’s appearance seemed remarkable. He wore his usual jeans and cowboy boots, with a linen blazer.

Tasteful Fragrances

Here’s an unusual way to choose a fragrance. Taste a few. That’s what luncheon guests did at Ma Maison Sofitel Thursday, when I. Magnin introduced a collection of scents by Paris perfumer Annick Goutal. The menu featured salmon with vanilla, asparagus with grapefruit vinaigrette and a fruit dessert laced with mango. Vanilla, grapefruit and mango are all essences in Goutal’s perfumes.
