The Bush Administration gasps indignantly at the fraudulent Panamanian elections. Where was this indignation during the Salvadoran elections? Bush turned a blind eye to the intimidation of voters in that country, to the lack of secret balloting, and sanctioned the “election” of death squads to power as “free and fair.” Bush perverts the concept of “self-determination” to further a self-serving U.S. foreign policy in El Salvador and throughout Central America.
