Molecular Biosystems on Thursday reported that net income rose by 39% to $612,000 for the fourth quarter ended March 31, up from $440,000 during the previous fourth quarter. Revenue rose to $4.4 million, up from $800,000.

Net income rose by 138% to $2.2 million for the year ended March 31, up from $923,915 during the previous fiscal year. Revenue for the year rose to $10.5 million, up from $5 million a year ago.

Product sales generate only about 2% of Molecular Biosystems’ revenue.

The rest comes from interest income, research-and-development agreements and product licenses. Molecular Biosystems has now reported three consecutive profitable years.
