Nineteen years after making “The Last Picture Show,” director Peter Bogdanovich has recruited the original cast from that 1971 critically acclaimed film to make a sequel. “Texasville,” based on Larry McMurtry’s best-selling book, goes into production Aug. 15 and reunites stars Jeff Bridges, Cybill Shepherd, Timothy Bottoms, Eileen Brennan, Cloris Leachman and Randy Quaid. The new story deals with the characters 30 years after “The Last Picture Show” concluded. Bogdanovich says he’s happy to be able to reunite six members of his original cast and is “filled with all kinds of complicated emotions about returing to one’s past and having a second chance.” He also notes that another half-dozen character actors who appeared in smaller roles in the first film will be back populating “Texasville.” Bogdanovich returned to Texas to finish scouting locations after shopping with Shepherd for her wardrobe . . . in Beverly Hills.
