Lin Talking With Third Party: Lin Broadcasting, which recently agreed to talk to McCaw Cellular Communications about its proposal to acquire Lin, said it began preliminary discussions with a third party about another transaction that would not involve the sale of the company. Lin, which holds 35% of Los Angeles Cellular Telephone, declined to identify the third party. It said talks with McCaw are continuing.
