Beverly Hills : ‘Sample Street’ Completed

A “Sample Street,” part of an urban design program for the business section of Beverly Hills, has been completed on Brighton Way between Rodeo and Camden Drives.

It includes granite sidewalks, old-fashioned street lamps and hanging flower planters, all suggested by city officials who hope the changes will help Beverly Hills compete with shopping areas elsewhere.

Valet parking will also be part of the program, at a minimum cost of $3. If the Sample Street proves successful, officials hope to see others like it installed throughout the city’s business district. The cost, and who will pay it, has not yet been determined.
