Spain Seizes Fugitive Italian Mafia Suspect

MADRID — Police have arrested an Italian suspected of running Mafia money-laundering operations in Spain and wanted by Italian courts on fraud charges, a police spokesman said Monday.
An Italian court sentenced Giancarlo Ferri to five years in prison for fraud in 1988, but he fled to Spain where he was a partner in an import and export business. Police suspect the business was a cover for laundering Mafia funds, the spokesman said.
