Kenneth W. Watson, current president and chief executive of Cartier Inc., has been named the new chairman and chief executive of Gump’s, retailer of gifts, silver, china and art. The flagship store is in San Francisco, with others in Beverly Hills, Dallas and Houston. Gump’s recently was purchased from Macmillan Inc. by a joint venture company formed by Charterhouse Group International, a New York-based investment firm, and Tobu Department Store, the Tokyo-based retailer.
