ELVIS WATCH

Arts and entertainment reports from The Times, national and international news services and the nation's press

Elvis Presley fans marking the 12th anniversary of the King’s death filed solemnly past his poolside Graceland grave in a candlelight procession early Wednesday, carrying tapers lighted from a torch fired from an eternal flame at the entertainer’s graveside. The procession was part of a Tuesday night/Wednesday morning vigil that Memphis, Tenn., police said drew 3,000 to 4,000 participants. Presley died on Aug. 16, 1977. The vigil was the largest event of Elvis International Tribute Week, a nine-day lineup of concerts, memorials and fan get-togethers.
