Regarding the Aug. 12 letters that characterized Rob Reiner’s “When Harry Met Sally . . . “ as a rip-off of Woody Allen’s films:
It’s easy to point fingers at supposed borrowings from “Annie Hall” and “Manhattan,” but if one looks further than a plot capsulization, the similarities diminish considerably.
I’d be interested to know if letter writers Patrick Blade and Tony Hershey have hurled any stones at their apparent hero, Allen, for his “homages” to such directors as Bergman (“Interiors,” “Hannah and Her Sisters”) and Fellini (“Stardust Memories”).
