Fatal accident: A pedestrian was killed Thursday after he was hit by a car while crossing a major roadway near William R. Mason Regional Park, police said. The male pedestrian, who name was withheld pending notification of relatives, was hit at about 6 p.m. in the intersection of University Drive and Beech Tree Lane, Irvine Police Lt. Vic Thies said. The driver of the car, who was not identified, was not cited.
