Oak Park 14, Calabasas 7--Kent Richter scored two touchdowns, rushed for 187 yards in 30 carries and helped Oak Park (3-1) grind out the final 8:02 of the nonleague game at Chaminade High.
On the final drive, Richter carried nine times--including seven in a row--for 51 yards. Richter also played a key role in the winning touchdown push in the fourth quarter, rushing for 32 of Oak Park’s 55 yards, including a five-yard blast for the score.
With the score tied, 7-7, Calabasas had a chance to take the lead in the third quarter, but a bad snap on a field-goal attempt gave Oak Park the ball on its 45, from where it mounted its winning drive. Oak Park rushed for 236 yards in 45 carries.
Richter gave Oak Park a 7-0 lead in the second quarter with a seven-yard touchdown run. Calabasas (0-4) scored on its next possession, marching 69 yards--52 on a pass from Damon Riggins to Jonathan Manuel--in seven plays. Riggins ran five yards for the touchdown.
Riggins rushed for 92 yards in 25 carries. He also completed two of six passes for 94 yards.
