A car bomb exploded in Muslim West Beirut an hour before the arrival of Rene Mouawad, Lebanon’s new Christian president. Police said four people were killed and 19 wounded. The bomb exploded three blocks from a villa put at Mouawad’s disposal by a Lebanese businessman living in Saudi Arabia, police said.
