US West Offers Retirement to 20,000: In a cost-cutting move, US West Inc. is offering special incentives to about 20,000 managers to retire by next Feb. 28. The Englewood, Colo.-based communications giant said 14,000 managers will qualify for pensions five years sooner than under previous guidelines and add five years of service for pension calculation purposes. Another 6,000 managers are eligible for immediate pensions.
