NSC Turns a Profit

National Semiconductor Corp. announced today it earned $2.4 million in the second quarter compared with a loss of $25.2 million for the same period last year. The Santa Clara, Calif.-based company, citing progress in addressing inventory, capacity and other cost issues, said it had met its goal to return to profitability during the period, which ended Nov. 26.
