CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : SACRAMENTO : Deukmejian Names New Press Secretary

Gov. George Deukmejian has named Robert J. Gore, the spokesman for the state Department of Transportation, to be his new press secretary. Gore is a former reporter who has served the Deukmejian Administration since 1984, first as a spokesman for the state Department of Corrections before taking his current post at Caltrans. He replaces Kevin M. Brett, who will leave the post Dec. 20 to become a timber industry official in Portland, Ore. Before working in state government, Gore was press secretary to then-Los Angeles County Dist. Atty. Robert H. Philibosian.
