PITTSBURGH — first person to undergo a simultaneous heart, liver and kidney transplant was placed back on a ventilator after she developed a pancreas inflammation, hospital officials said Monday.
Cindy Martin, 26, of Archbald, was in critical condition at Presbyterian-University Hospital of Pittsburgh, but doctors said her transplanted organs were functioning well.
“It is a temporary setback, but it seems to be getting better,” said hospital spokeswoman Lisa Rossi.
