A man who went into convulsions while waiting to be booked into County Jail downtown later died at a hospital, a sheriff’s deputy said.
San Diego police officers had arrested Jorge C. Anaya, 26, in the 1000 block of 11th Avenue on suspicion of using drugs.
While waiting in the telephone room at the County Jail to be booked, Anaya became ill.
He died at 5:53 p.m. at the UC San Diego Medical Center.
