Point Loma wide receiver Brett Callan has orally committed to Cal, where he will play both football and baseball. Callan, 6-1, 195 pounds, was a Times all-county selection.

BASEBALL

Freshman Tony Moeder had four RBIs in USD’s 7-1 victory over visiting Point Loma Nazarene (0-1). Moeder’s triple in the first drove in two runs for USD (2-0).

UC San Diego (1-1) lost, 6-1, to Southern California College. Eric Judson had UCSD’s lone RBI.

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL

No. 4 Hawaii defeated No. 6 San Diego State for the third time in five days with a 15-12, 10-15, 15-11, 5-15, 15-8 Western Intercollegiate Volleyball Assn. victory at Peterson Gym.

Carlos Briceno led Hawaii (8-2, 4-0) with 25 kills. Douglas Potter had 23 for SDSU (6-4, 0-2).
