WORLD : Protests in Tehran Broken Up

ATHENS — About 5,000 people poured into the streets of Tehran in anti-government demonstrations that were broken up by police, and at least one person was killed in the clashes, a rebel Iranian radio station said today.
“Radio Iran,” a right-wing rebel radio station broadcasting from outside the country, said the clashes began Sunday when revolutionary guards began firing into the crowd that was yelling anti-government slogans.
The demonstrators ran into side streets chanting “Iran, Iran, freedom, freedom,” the radio said. They also chanted “Death to Khamenei,” and “Death to Rafsanjani,” a reference to spiritual leader Ali Khamenei and President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani.
