CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : GILROY : Prosecution of Gallo’s Wife Urged

A misdemeanor manslaughter charge against Aileen Gallo, wife of wine maker Julio Gallo, was recommended by investigators of a fatal traffic accident. A report on the Jan. 2 collision, which killed San Jose special education teacher Sharon Kauk, 26, was sent to Tom Farris, Santa Clara County deputy district attorney, California Highway Patrol Officer Ron Chaffee said. The misdemeanor manslaughter charge was recommended “based on the fact that our investigators found she (Mrs. Gallo) was driving on the wrong side of the road. . . ,” he said. Farris said he will make a decision in a few days.
