Former Florida basketball star Dwayne Schintzius said that Don DeVoe was responsible for his quitting the team Jan. 25 and that the Gators’ interim coach is wrong to place the blame on former assistant Monte Towe.
“Coach Towe had nothing to do with me leaving,” Schintzius told the Gainesville Sun. “He wanted me to stay on the team.”
Schintzius, a 7-foot-2 senior, cited conflicts with DeVoe as the cause for him leaving.
