About 2,000 riot police blocked a march by demonstrators in Taipei demanding the retirement of Taiwan’s aged lawmakers. The National Assembly is dominated by elderly Nationalist Party stalwarts who have not faced voters since the Nationalist government fled to Taiwan in 1949 after losing the mainland to the Communists.
