Nu-Med Inc.: The Encino health-services company reported a third-quarter net loss of $3.5 million, 51% less than the loss recorded for the same period the year before. Revenue was $71.2 million, up 7.5% from the year-earlier period. The loss was attributed to a greater proportion of government and managed-care programs in the patient mix at some hospitals, which restrained revenues, coupled with increased operating costs due to higher facility usage.
