David L. Baker has named vice president, operations for Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc., Tustin. He was formerly director of operations for Toshiba, a manufacturer of diagnostic imaging systems.

Before joining the company in 1978, he was a field engineer for EMI Therapy Systems.

In addition, Philip A. Smith was appointed vice president, X-ray and nuclear medicine business operations. He was formerly business manager of the X-ray diagnostic imaging system product group.

Previously, Smith was X-ray marketing manager for General Electric Medical Systems in Milwaukee.
