OXNARD : Car Passenger Dies in Head-On Crash

A 43-year-old Oxnard woman died when her 16-year-old daughter, who was driving their car, took her eyes off the road and drifted into oncoming traffic, authorities said.

Felicia Torres was driving her mother, Alicia Rodriguez, westbound on Pleasant Valley Road near Hailes Road when she glanced away to reach for her purse, said Officer Randy Klucker of the California Highway Patrol.

The car drifted into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a car driven by Darel McCauley, 36, of Oxnard.
