PREP BASEBALL ROUNDUP : Baker Pitches 1-Hitter; Tustin Wins, 6-0

Danny Baker pitched a one-hitter and struck out nine to lead Tustin High School to a 6-0 victory over Corona del Mar in a Sea View League baseball game Friday at Tustin.
Baker, a senior left-hander, gave up a fourth-inning double to Brady Lamar to improve his record to 9-1 for the Tillers (18-3, 10-1 in league play).
Five players had a hit and an RBI for Tustin, which scored four runs in the sixth. Chad Faltz had an RBI double in the sixth for Tustin.
In another Sea View League game:
University 5, Saddleback 2--Brian Vail (5-2) pitched a six-hitter for visiting University (11-10, 4-7). Billy Thompson had two hits and two RBIs, and Alan Marlinga had a double and a triple, scored a run and drove in another for University.
In the Empire League:
El Dorado 4, Los Alamitos 3--Jon Tonka and Todd Loyd each doubled and Tyson Dowdell (3-3) was the winning pitcher for visiting El Dorado (11-11, 4-7). Anthony Napolitano hit a solo home run in the seventh inning and Todd Gragnano hit a two-run home run in the third for Los Alamitos (9-12-1, 6-5).
Esperanza 16, Loara 3--Esperanza (17-4, 11-0) scored 11 runs in the first inning. Brian Pickler had three hits, scored twice and had two RBIs, and Keith McDonald hit a three-run home run in the first inning. Dan Redington had two hits and two RBIs for Esperanza. Czach Hallock, Chris Hoffman and Mike Gargano each had two hits for Loara (3-8, 5-16).
Katella 9, Cypress 5 (8 innings)--Bobby Norul hit a two-run home run in the seventh to tie the score, 5-5, for host Cypress (4-18, 1-10). But Katella rallied for four runs in the eighth for its ninth consecutive victory. Brandon Farley hit a three-run home run for Katella (17-4, 8-3).
In the Freeway League:
Sunny Hills 14, La Habra 1--Brian Veronda (3-3) pitched a two-hitter and had a three-run double to lead host Sunny Hills, which scored nine runs in the second inning.
Rick Orr had three hits, including a three-run home run, and four RBIs; Jason Sugarman had three hits and two RBIs, and Kevin Overby had two hits, including a home run, for Sunny Hills (12-10, 7-4).
Troy 13, Sonora 6--Jason Gudzunas had three hits, two stolen bases and three RBIs for visiting Troy (11-8, 8-3), which has seven consecutive league victories. Ryan Russell had three hits, including two doubles, and three RBIs for Troy, which scored five runs in the third to take a 5-2 lead.
In the Olympic League:
Whittier Christian 5, Santa Margarita 4--Whittier Christian scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning, keyed by Brent Tucker’s two-run double, for a victory over Santa Margarita (6-2, 3-7). Whittier Christian is 16-2, 10-0.
Valley Christian 9, Capistrano Valley Christian 2--Sophomore Paul Marusa hit his first home run for host Capistrano Valley Christian (7-11, 1-10).
Orange Lutheran 3, Ontario Christian 2--Kent Dowding (6-2) pitched a six-hitter with 13 strikeouts and also had three hits and an RBI, and J.P. Presley had three hits for visiting Orange Lutheran (14-6, 8-2).
In the Orange League:
Brea-Olinda 5, Western 4 (11 innings)--John Toro doubled to score Chris Briones, who reached on an error in the 11th for host Brea-Olinda (14-6-1, 8-2-1). Briones had three hits. John Lynn (5-0) gave up three runs in the seventh but didn’t allow a run the rest of the way.
Magnolia 3, Savanna 0--John Straits (4-2) pitched a three-hitter with five strikeouts to assure Magnolia (9-9, 7-4) of at least a third-place finish in league and a playoff spot. Savanna is 3-8 in league play.
Anaheim 3, Valencia 2--Zeke Barrios (3-0) pitched two innings for the victory and Craig Ribette got the final two outs for his sixth save. Barrios had two hits and scored twice for Anaheim (13-7-1, 7-3-1).
In the Pacific Coast League:
Laguna Hills 2, Laguna Beach 1--Brian Kessler pitched a four-hitter, struck out three and walked none for host Laguna Hills (15-7, 10-1). Jon Hendrickson had three hits and one RBI and Ted Wilkes had an RBI for Laguna Hills.
Orange 10, Costa Mesa 0--Orange scored eight runs in the first inning and John Martinolich and Steve Burnett combined for a three-hitter to lead host Orange (11-9, 7-4). Costa Mesa is 1-10 in league.
In the South Coast League:
Dana Hills 6, San Clemente 0--Albie Sukut (1-0) pitched a two-hitter, struck out 11 and walked three and had two hits and scored twice to lead host Dana Hills (12-9-1, 6-5). Lance Marks hit a two-run home run in the first inning for Dana Hills.
El Toro 4, Mission Viejo 2--El Toro scored twice in the bottom of the fifth inning to go ahead, 3-2. Scott Sebbo doubled and Chad Hoelker singled him home to give the Chargers an insurance run. Rob Johnson (6-1) pitched a seven-hitter and had six strikeouts and three walks for El Toro (16-6, 8-3).
Capistrano Valley 6, Irvine 4--Jonathan Petke had a two-run triple in the seventh to break a 4-4 tie for visiting Capistrano Valley (13-7-1, 6-4-1). Ethan Wyckoff (2-0) pitched a three-hitter.
In the Sunset League:
Edison 4, Huntington Beach 3--Rocky Balch singled in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring Brian Higgins, who led off the inning with a single, to break a 3-3 tie for Edison (15-6, 6-5).
Fountain Valley 2, Ocean View 1--Brad Powers hit a two-out, bases-loaded single to score Sean Mahoney in the bottom of the seventh and break a 1-1 tie for Fountain Valley (10-12, 5-6). Ocean View is 10-1 in league play.
Marina 10, Westminster 2--Robin Lindsey had three hits, including two doubles, and three RBIs to lead Marina (10-10-2, 6-5). David Schultz (5-1) got the victory by pitching four scoreless innings.
