All Entrants Called for Re-Running of 4-A Boys’ Hurdle Prelims Today

Everyone who ran in Saturday’s Southern Section 4-A boys’ 300-meter hurdle preliminaries at Gahr High School are being asked to return to Gahr at 3 p.m. today for a re-run of all four heats, the Southern Section announced Wednesday.
Southern Section Commissioner Stan Thomas ruled Monday that the second heat of Saturday’s preliminary race needed to be re-run because Jeremy Buck, a Dana Hills High School sophomore, mistakenly was disqualified for running around a hurdle in that race. The hurdle, Thomas ruled after viewing a videotape of the race, was out of position, causing Buck to stop and eventually to be disqualified.
But that re-run, which was scheduled Wednesday, was postponed until today when the Southern Section received notice from the National Federation of State High Schools that all four heats must be re-run.
All 36 runners were to be contacted about the re-run by Wednesday afternoon, Southern Section officials said.
The winner of each heat, plus the next five overall fastest times, will advance to Friday’s Southern Section finals at Cerritos College.
